EmPad repeats first success at Royal City Avenue in Bangkok, Thailand.

Hot on the heels of the runaway success of their Hip Hop club at RCA in Bangkok the Morgan entertainment club opened yet another new venue and called on emPad to raise the sound reproduction standards. Diversification was the message, and Live Band the answer! The new Slim Live! venue holds 350 punters and opened for the public after a "soft" run in that served as a general rehearsal for artists and staff alike.

Club manager once again proved to be a very inventive venue designer by turning a rectangular shaped room into something completely different. The stage is diagonally positioned while the interior is arranged in a different orientation. The further addition of two mezzanine levels as well as a "quiet room" for the punters that actually want to comfortably communicate verbally makes it a cozy, yet interesting room to party in.

The sound system design requirements were quite particular. Close co-operation between the club management and our emPad system designers resulted in a small but powerful system that never fails to impress the guest bands and the live music fans alike. A first at Bangkok's most famous club street.

The sound system comprises of 4pcs of B7 mid-High satellite cabinets. These easily prove to be powerful enough to smoothly handle the live rock band's vocals as well as the loudest (usually guitar) solo's. 1 pcs B315 low cabinets per side and one B315 cabinet in centre sub position handle the low frequencies. A proprietary controller processes and feeds signals to all concerned areas while amplification is provided by 3 pcs emPad DXA2400 amps. Monitoring is provided by 4 pcs of our "mini-me" (yes, the same) MS8 floor monitors.

Slim Live! Also employs 2pcs emPad 3-7 guitar cabinets and 1 pcs B15-7 bass guitar cabinet. These are configured with 2pcs Line 6 Guitar Pod Pro DSP preamplifiers and 1 pcs Line 6 Guitar Pod Pro DSP preamplifiers respectively. These line 6 units excitingly and accurately emulate the sounds of a plethora of backline guitar amplifiers and pass the signal on to an emPad power amplifier, then the emPad backline cabinets. This setup results in unprecedented clarity of bass as well as guitar sounds. The details in of these sounds in the total mix is astounding considering the stage size and produced SPL's. Crosstalk has been minimized to very acceptable levels.
The entire FOH system measured a max SPL's in excess of 122 dB C weighted @ FOH position. Once again, this exceeds the requirements by a big margin and the house engineers are instructed by Mr. Phond, the entertainment complex' manager to mute the centre sub in between the live band shows.
