Ghana 50 years of Independence celebration
10 March 2007 50 years after Ghana became the first country south of the Sahara to gain independence from colonial rule music enthusiast from around the world congregated at the independence square in Accra to commemorate the auspicious event. The Ghana as one concert is one of the highlights for the year long independent Ghana jubilee festivities. It is with pride that Empad via Artes Dubai supplied the audio equipment for the vibrant live show.
The mix of international and local line up took full advantage of the Empad system with crystal clear results. The local stars to rock the stage were Kojo Antwi, Ola Williams, Kwaku Gyasi, Batman Samini, Ambolley, Paapa Yankson and Jewel Ackah. Fans also got a one in a lifetime performance by US soul legends The Whispers and Howard Hewitt of Shalamar fame.
As can be imagined setting up an important gig in a western African country is anything but simple, but sound engineer Avril Rodriguez was on top of things even in crazy setup circumstances. Avril used 24 Empad CC35 and 14 B315 for the main system delivering quality acoustics that fulfilled the expectations of the four thousand spectators.
It should be noted that with genuine national pride the crowd showed up dressed in the colorful kente adding an African touch to the electric atmosphere.
